What's your why? Doula work can be draining, physically and emotionally. Why do you do it?
I struggled for a long time with what I wanted to do with my life as far as careers. I found doula work and after leaving my first client, I had an overwhelming feeling of 'This is what I was meant to do.' I love what I do, so it's never work.

WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT LIVING IN CINCINNATI?
I like that you can have the best of both worlds living here. There is so much to see and explore downtown, but with a quick drive outside of the city you can be surrounded by woods and fields. Why did you become a doula?
It was really an organic thing...Growing up, my mom regularly shared her three positive birth experiences with me. She maintained that, while it was hard work, it was normal and, dare-I-say, no big deal. I, of course, having no birth experience of my own, believed the same. My nonchalant outlook about the whole process seemed to attract friends and family who wanted confident [in them] support during their pregnancies and subsequent births. I started reading more about birth out of pure necessity and discovered the role of a doula. A couple years later, I took my first workshop and I've never looked back!

If I Only Had A Doula When I Became Vegan
Because doulas (even the going-vegan variety) keep their personal beliefs personal. They support their clients’ goals, whatever they are, however they may change. They provide more information if you want it (she probably already knew agave nectar was worse than sugar, but you know I wasn’t hearing it), and are there for you even for middle-of-the-night, should-I-eat-this emergencies.
